A Transfer Date!

We have a transfer date!

I received an email today from Carol, the embryologist at NEDC that our transfer is scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd.  She reminded me that this is tentative date, and could possibly change based on how my body responds to the medication.

Now, to start looking for airfares, hotels and car rental.  This can get a little tricky if our transfer date changes.  We definitely want to get there one or two days earlier, just in case there is a hiccup with flight or weather.  I did a quick look at Delta's website and found that it would cost TWICE as much to get a flexible/refundable ticket.  It will probably be cheaper to pay a change fee if we had to (probably $200) to change our tickets.

For our last trip, we booked everything via Travelocity (flight, hotel & car rental), and got a pretty good discount.  I think we will have to book everything separately this time around.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to book for this trip?

  1. We use ebates and order through priceline and save 1%. We book car through Thrifty and get 4% through ebates. I believe that Travelocity is on ebates too. If you sign up for ebates let me know as I can get a $5 referral bonus. I use ebates for so much. It's free and easy. It has to be or this busy mom wouldn't use it!! lol!

  2. How exciting!!! I used Expedia and they had great rates. For the rental car the best place I have found (though not used yet) was rentalcars.com. For hotels we called one that was right by our clinic in Jacksonville and asked if they offered a discount for patients at the hospital (where clinic was located) and they gave us a price about $25 a night less than any travel site offered.

  3. Anyway you can book to be there a few days early and a few days later that way if your transfer date moves forward or backward by a day or two you are already there and you won't need to redo all your plans? Praying for easy travel!

  5. I know next to nothing about traveling... I don't do it much. Mat rented the car for us and we drove (flying stresses me out, which isn't good for a newly pregnant woman!) and I just booked a Holiday Inn Express.

So excited you have a transfer date! Prayers for you and hubby :)

With our adoption, there was no pre-planning. We booked last minute through SW and got great rates.
