September 2013 ICLW

Welcome ICLWers!

This should be a very exciting time for me.

I should be in Knoxville, TN right now for the transfer of our adopted embryos from on the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC) this Sunday.

Well at least that was the plan.  Two days before we were to hop on the airplane, we found out that I have a polyp in my uterus.  Dr. Keenan from NEDC recommended that we postpone our transfer until November.  So sadly, I had to cancel my travel plans and wait another couple of months before I get to meet my adopted babies waiting for me in TN.  In the mean time I have an appointment with a specialist at the end of the month to schedule surgery to remove my polyp.

This is obviously a very disappointing time for me.  After trying for almost 10 years, including multiple rounds of Clo.mid, IUIs, surgeries and 4 rounds of IVFs, AND turning 40 in August, I have to wait yet again.  However, I want to make sure that my body is ready and in the ideal condition to give my babies the best chance at life.

It is another reminder that no matter how much I try to plan, prepare and control things, in the end I am not in control, but God is.

It sounds like a cliche, but it really is all in God's timing.

For those of you new to my blog or to see how I got here, swing on over to my "Our Journey So Far" page.

Thanks for visiting.  Hope you stick around to see how things play out in the next couple of months.

  2. 10 years?! Wow - you are one strong woman... after a couple of rounds myself, and of course some moving internationally + age, we finally, kind of gave up - big sigh. I think it is the first time I am actually writing this. I hope that after another short wait your dream will come true. I keep my fingers crossed.

  4. I would be disappointed too. You're right that it IS God who is controlling the timing. I am going to turn 40 next year but I haven't only been trying for almost two years. Anyhow, I pray that after the polyp removal your uterus is beyond ready for those embabies. :)

  7. Hey Friend - I know today is a hard day. You were supposed to be meeting your precious babies, but the Lord chose otherwise. Remember that He tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9 that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. His ways and timing are perfect, even when we can't understand them. I'm so glad that you are trusting Him through these delays even though you are weary and your heart longs to meet your babies and have them snuggled up all warm inside of you. What a joyous day that will be! In the meantime, hope, trust and pray! {{{BIG HUGS!!!}}}

  8. Hi from ICLW...I'm so sorry that your transfer was postponed :( I'm sure that's a terrible blow after waiting so long. I hope you recover quickly so that you can proceed. As you said, it's God's timing, even though we don't always understand why! Best of luck going forward!

  11. Ugh! I'm so sorry about the polyp and having to postpone your transfer. I hope the surgery and healing time treat you well and that you're all healthy for your transfer in November! Good luck.

  13. I am so sorry for the delay. If it makes you feel any better I was in a similar position two years ago. I was so frustrated my IVF was delayed because I had a fibroid and had to have a laparoscopy. Turned out to be the best thing as that op makes you super fertile and I was pregnant three months afterwards. Onestepatatime.co.za
