Birthday Giveaway!

Image from Keep Calm Posters

I'm having a birthday today.  Yup, yet another year older.

Last year I was pretty optimistic, looking forward to my first embryo adoption transfer in what I thought would be in the month of September.  A year later, I still don't have a baby in my arms, nor a pregnant belly.

However this year, Babe surprised me with 1.5 dozen roses at work a day early. On top of that, he made me open my birthday present early. I am being spoiled with a gift card of a half day at the spa which includes a 90 minute massage, manicure, facial, hair wash and style and lunch.  And tonight, we will go out to a nice dinner somewhere.  I feel really spoilt. But Babe said I deserve it. It's been a rough couple of years for us. And it's not over yet.

So, in honor of my birthday today, and that I am being spoilt by my Babe, I'm sharing the love. I'm giving away a $20 Target gift card. All you have to do to take part in this giveaway is leave a comment on what makes you happy.  Is it the smell of coffee in the morning? Or the giggle of a baby?  One of my favorites is waking up in the morning and realizing that I can go back to sleep because it's the weekend and I don't have to go to work!

So tell me what makes you happy.  One entry per person please.  Only comments in this post will count as an entry.  The giveaway will end at 11:59 pm CDT on Wednesday, August 13th.  If you are commenting anonymously, please leave me an email where you can be contacted.  One winner will be randomly chosen by Babe.

  2. First of all Happy Birthday! It sounds like your husband was really on top of things. Something that makes me happy? There are several, but I think my favorite is going outside in the morning seeing the beautiful blue sky with the sun shining behind the clouds. I am actually one of those people who do go out and smell the roses :)

  5. Nothing makes me happier than when I get to see my nieces and nephews! They all live over 6 hours away from me so I also love to hear their little voices over the phone as well! Happy birthday to you! Sounds like you will have a fantastic day!

  6. Happy Birthday. Hoping that all your wishes come true soon. What makes me happy is when I look into my baby girls eyes and know that what I lost was worth the creation of her.

  7. Happy birthday!! What makes me happy is, hugs from my toddler (who is usually too busy to snuggle) and starting a book that I've been waiting for for a long time! And eating outside :-)

  8. Happy Birthday! What a wonderful husband you have! I can relate to your situation....while we were beyond blessed with my son (thanks to fertility treatments), the last few birthdays have been bitter sweet because all I really wanted was Baby #2. Fortunately, I am also blessed with an amazing husband who also sent me on a birthday spa day :)

Sooo....three things make me smile the most lately....my amazing hubby, the look on my sweet son's face when he tells me he loves me, and the anticipation of meeting the boy or girl we will be adopting :)

  9. Happy birthday!!! Hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend!

What makes me happy? Husband cooking dinner and/or cleaning up, massages, watching my daughter play in the mud puddles, sweets, thunder and rain (especially in the summer!)

  10. Happy birthday! I love this idea. What makes me happy is lazy time with my husband and son, when we have nowhere to be and nothing to do and can just enjoy each other.

  12. Happy Birthday! You certainly DO deserve to be spoiled and loved. You are beautiful inside and out and my prayer for you this year is that the Lord does something that blesses your socks off... and Babe too. Not every woman is as lucky as you. You both deserve a year of blessing!

So, what made me happy today? Picking up my paycheck and having almost enough money to buy most of the books my high schooler needs. :) The bonus was that hubby's paycheck covered the biology book so we only have a few major books left to buy! :) (We're a homeschool family.)

  20. First of all, go figure my first comment on a blog in several weeks is the one where I can win something. Sheesh. Happy birthday! Sounds like you got a fabulous birthday present! Seriously. You deserve it.

So what makes me happy? Ok, I say, drinking coffee alone on an early morning reading a book and I don't have anything planned for the day.

  21. Black olives make me happy. My husband likes to spoil me, too. His best spoiling is when he brings me black olives rather than chocolate are flowers. It makes me feel really special, because he hates black olives. :) He's a great husband.

  22. Happy Birthday! It was so nice to read this latest update. Babe continues to impress me with being such a thoughtful husband. I pray that God would continue to watch over the two of you and that your marriage would reflect something about Christ to the world.

What makes me most happy is when God's work is evident in this world in ways that can't easily be explained, like when someone comes to faith, seeing reconciliation because God prompted someone to reach out and offer forgiveness, observing someone trust God despite difficult circumstances, or even when I am quicker to confess my sins and failings. 23. Happy Birthday!
Coming home after being away for a few days makes me happy.. the smell of our home, the feel of the wood floor on my feet, and the way the light shines through the front door.. just makes me smile and happy to be home.

  24. Happy Late Birthday!!! Oh Goodness... so many things make me happy but the first one that comes to mind is hearing children laughing. I was in Wal-Mart (hate that place) yesterday and while walking to the next isle I saw a little girl laughing un-controllably with her little brother. It was definitely the highlight to my day.

  25. Your husband definitely knows how to make your birthday special, as he spoiled you with a lot of surprises! But in all of the surprise, the massages and facial are what I think you enjoyed most. It gave you time just to relax and have a fresher look. Have a good one!
