Really. It's actually here. The dreaded big 4-0.
I used to love birthdays, but if you live or have lived in the infertility world, you know what it's like to dread another birthday. I looked at my past birthday related posts from last year and 2010 (I didn't blog in 2011), they were all pretty depressing and mostly about how I am getting so close to 40. Well, 40 is finally here. I was really hoping that I would be a mommy by 40. At the very least, I would be pregnant by now. But as we all know, I am neither.
But, I'm hoping that this year, the year I turn 40, will be different! This is the year things will turn around. This will be the year I get pregnant and be a mommy.
I will look at turning 40 as entering a new era, of the best decade of my life!
So, in honor of me turning 40, I'm having a Birthday Giveaway!
I'm giving away $40 in Amazon gift cards. Two lucky winners will win a $20 Amazon gift card each.
To enter this giveaway, you just have to leave me a POSITIVE comment here about what's great about turning 40 or being in my 40's. I would love to hear about pregnancy (first time or subsequent) in your 40s, parenting in your 40s, beauty tips, healthy living, eating right, love/sex tips (keep it clean!), etc. Pretty much anything positive and great about turning 40! I'd love to hear all your comments! Please keep it positive though, I need your support in looking forward to turning 40!
One entry per person please. Only comments in this post will count as an entry. The giveaway will end on at 11:59 pm CDT on Sunday, August 11th. If you are commenting anonymously, please leave me an email where you can be contacted. Two winners will be randomly chosen by Babe (i.e. DH, my dear hubby).
Come help me celebrate my 40th birthday!
Happy, happy birthday! I love Amazon - this is an great giveaway. 40 will be awesome - best year yet!!!
ReplyDeleteOn the advice front...I'm not nearly 40, but my body sure thinks I am (thanks to POF). Some serious advice is get some estrogen cream from your doctor at the first sign of "dryness", before it becomes a real issue.
And again, happy birthday!!!
Happy early birthday! Hope it's a blast!!! And, I could give you a million clean eating ideas, but find fun desserts that are healthy! I just made a gluten free, refined sugar banana bread that I top with homemade almond butter!!! Be creative with what you eat!
ReplyDeleteMy 40th is early November so I am on your tail with this and have thought about it quite a bit. I always thought I would have trouble turning 40 and saying that f-word, but after the neverending infertility of my 30's, I seriously cannot wait to bid them farewell. ;) The 20's were about "finding myself" (whatever that means) and the 30's were about getting established (which never really happened anyway as that is just a BS term for growing up - LOL). So let's bring on the 40's and be those older mamas who are sure of ourselves because we have already lived and lost so much that we can handle pretty much anything now. I think your 40's are going to be good to you...really good. 40 is the new 30 anyway. Live it and love it and bring it on. We've got this, girl!!
ReplyDeleteI've had 2 of our 5 children while in my 40s!! Praying for another full term pregnancy at 45! I love being a mom at this stage of my life! Praying for you and the month ahead!
ReplyDeleteHappy 40th birthday!!! I myself turned 40 in May and so far it has been wonderful! After struggling with infertility all through my 30s, I got pregnant in November (thanks to God's help through the NEDC's November transfer week) and our beautiful, perfect baby girl was born the last week in July. We came home Tuesday, so not yet a week home and our baby is wonderful. I am so thankful for the anonymous donors who allowed her to have the chance to continue her life. She is a blessing to us and 40 has been wonderful so far! I trust that 40 will be great for you as well!

Hoping your transfer goes well. Also on a positive note, I have lost 21 pounds since the delivery, less than 10 days ago! Our previously frozen miracle weighed less than eight pounds and I had a TON of swelling through the pregnancy. Time to dig out my pre-pregnancy clothes from the basement when I get over the C-section that brought us our precious used-to-be frozen in Knoxville miracle!
Happy 40th birthday! Being a mama at 40 definitely has its pluses. I turned 40 right after adopting our first child domestically. Then got pregnant through the NEDC at 42 with our second child and am preggo now at 44 with our third! We have a lot more patience and wisdom in our 40s- makes dealing with the 2s and 3s a bit easier : ). Forty is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHappy 40th birthday! Being 40 will be great. Hopefully this is the year that you will get to bring home a healthy baby. Being older and being a mom will make you a much more patient and make you cherish every moment.
ReplyDeleteI think the best thing would be knowing what you want and what you don't want. You aren't making all the mistakes of your 20s and even 30s. I know quite a few people that have had babies in their 40s and they are able to enjoy them more than people who had children too young and are still struggling. Happy Birthday

Happy 40th Birthday! I am not quite 40 but it is just around the corner for me and my hubby turns 40 in a few weeks. Truly, neither my hubby or I feel 40. I think that being an older parent definitely causes you to appreciate your children way more! My father was 40 when I was born and both he and my mom really cherished us and realized what a gift we were. We were never an inconvenience for them and I hope that my children will always realize that as well. We have two babies born from EA and one due any day. I am hoping to be pregnant again in my 40s as we still have a few more frozen babies that we'd love to bring into our family. We'll see what the Lord has in store.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you are pregnant REALLY soon and the 40s will be a start to a decade of building wondering memories with a baby (or two!)!
Blessings to you
Happy Birthday! I don't have any advice but 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything so the 40's can't be that bad!
ReplyDeleteI just want to encourage you with my testimony: After 11.5 years of ttc, 8 IUI's, numerous operations, 3 fresh IVF's and 1 FET, all of which were unsuccessful, I conceived after turning 40! Our beautiful little boy is now 19 months and the joy of our lives. So I wish the same for you as your 40th birthday present!
ReplyDeleteOne of my dear friends was told she was infertile and exactly nine months after her 40th birthday she had her baby girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday by the way.
Do you have to be 40 to enter the giveaway?? I'm five years from 40! haha. I don't have any '40s' advice, but I do have advice for your cycle. No matter what, just have faith and know that God has a plan for you. Keep positive, even in times of adversary and you wil always see the blessings that each day brings.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!!!
Happy 40th and welcome to the club. :) Here is my encouragement...I am 42 (almost 43!) and I am currently 33 weeks pregnant. I was told I had a 1% of a "spontaneous" pregnancy and I am happy to report I beat the odds!!
ReplyDeleteI am only 29 so not sure if I can enter, but I can share what I look forward to in my 40's. thinking and caring less what others think, having even more patience and spending quality time with my hubby.
ReplyDeleteYou will be an amazing mother at 40!! With the patience and great love any child would be lucky to receive :). September is a lucky month for us I can feel it
Hi fellow Leo ..I turned 40 a few years ago so I can tell you from the other side...its not that bad! I am more confident and comfortable in my own skin. after years of infertility and third IVF, I was pregnant when I turned 40 so that made up for aging ! I hope you'll become a mom soon!

Um, what's great about being 40? Duh, because 40 is FABULOUS! Though I have some years to go, parenting in your 40s can bring about so much more patience and wisdom. Happy birthday!
